Birding in Alabama along the Gulf, I saw this heron stepping out. He is walking as fast as he can to get to an area where they are seining for shrimp. I bet he has been here before and knows that the fisherman is going to give him a treat. I love how the feathers on his head are flying in the breeze.

My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible.
