I turned this image upside down. The Praying mantis was hanging upside down on the bottom of the shingles of a friends house but I thought if I turned him over his blood would not flow to his head so quickly. Actually I am not sure how much blood a mantis has but I bet its not much.

My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible.
