Amazing what these awkward birds can do with those large bills. This one was captured in southern Alabama. I like how he blends into the background of this coastal stream This brown pelican is one of the smallest of the eight species of pelicans. They are also one of my favorite birds to photograph. There are large, and relatively cooperative as well as being incredibly silly looking.
My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible. Enjoy the photos.
