Artist's Description
He is named for its prominent front legs, which are bent and held together at an angle that suggests the position of prayer. But he is quite the predator so you are forgiven if you think it is a preying mantis. I purchased this one in an egg case. I can not say he was an affectionare pet but I did enjoy watching him. I would put him outside on a group of sedums every day and he would stalk and consume spiders ,bees and other bugs. He was an incredibly effecient hunter.
About Jean Noren
My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible. Enjoy the photos.
