A male western blue bird perches on a peonie which has been filled with worms. Western bluebirds are frequent visitors to our home in western Oregon. They are suckers for mealworms and can be easily enticed to areas where the worms have been placed. They are easygoing and easily pushed around by the swallows in our area. I deal with this by placing a long line of birdhouses along our drive, so there is not quite as much fighting. The background color in this photo is from a tablecloth that I hung on my deck with a worm filled flower in front of it. He had a delightful time ferreting out the worms and did not seem to mind my presence with the camera.
My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible. Enjoy the photos.
