A close up of a feather from a Flicker. These are rather stunning birds that we see quite often around our home in the country in Western Oregon. Unfortunately, they have a tendency to peck at the siding in our cedar sided house. They have managed to get all the way through the siding on several occasions despite our aggressive attempts to get them to stop. They like one particular place that is on the second story and can only be reached by a ladder that is much longer than any we own. The feathers are nice, though.
My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible. Enjoy the photos.
