Description
No sighing prisoners use this as a crossing. Instead it is used as a main thoroughfare by those who live and work at St John's college in Cambridge. It was built in 1831 because they needed another river crossing between the New Court and the Third Court. The only real similarity between the Bridge of Sighs in Cambridge and Venice is the name and the fact that they are both covered bridges.
It looks quite beautiful with the flowers in bloom along the rivers edge.
