Description
A golden spotted moray eel is sliding or slithering out of its den in Bonaire. Their small heads and beady eyes are deceptive. This eel is about 6-7 feet long and looks very scary when it leaves its place in the coral. Their bite can be very destructive as the teeth angle backwards, so they do not release their prey easily. I have heard of nasty bites to scuba divers but only related to the idiotic practice of feeding these wild animals. In general they are safe to be around and nice to photograph as they hold relatively still and tend to stay in one crevice in the coral during the day. At night, all bets are off.
