I have planted several types of succulents between the rocks surrounding my koi pond. It amazes me that something so detailed and patterned can come up from between the stones. There is minimal dirt present so they must have very strong survival genes. The black and white brings out the pattern detail in the plant as well as the shadows.
My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible. Enjoy the photos.
