A solid sheet of ice with hoarfrost is embedded with seeds and small twigs. On top is another edge of ice formed by water flowing over the underlying layer. The image was taken on a creek near Mount Hood in Oregon.

My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible.
