An underwater profile of a french angelfish. These large flat fish are very friendly and curious. They frequently swim in pairs and get close enough for macro shots, especially when you are set up to do wide angle shooting. To me they look sweet and pouty and the white spot near the eye looks like a giant tear.

My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible.
