CONGRATULATIONS JEAN for your SECOND PLACE WIN in the ART DECO STYLE Competition!!!

Artist's Description

The 1982 post-modern building by Michael Graves in Portland, Oregon Is known as the Portland building.
Michael Graves submitted his design for the building in a competition in 1979. The city of Portland wanted a design for the Portland Service Building, in downtown Portland. The project would hold the city’s municipal offices, and was to be located next to City Hall, the County Courthouse and the Chapman Square Park.
Michael Graves was young and inexperienced when he entered the competition but his colorful low-cost design impressed the jury, who thought the unique design was bound to put Portland on the map—which it did.
Unfortunately the building had a number of flaws and was not without controversy, but over time has been incorporated into the city's landscape.

About Jean Noren

Jean Noren

My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible. Enjoy the photos.
