Artist's Description

A Sand hill crane is alert as I approach during early morning in the Basque del Apache in New Mexico. Sandhill Cranes forage for grains and invertebrates in prairies, grasslands, and marshes. They do not actually hunt in open water. They form extremely large flocks—into the tens of thousands—on their wintering grounds such as the bosque del apache in New Mexico. They often migrate very high in the sky and I love watching them as silhouettes against the moon at the end of a day of photography.

About Jean Noren

Jean Noren

My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible. Enjoy the photos.
