A bluebird buries his head in a rose to try and recover a bug. Photo by Jean Noren.
My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible. Enjoy the photos.

what an odd photo-- i don't think i've ever seen a bluebird do this, but plunging his head evidently allowed you to get close enough to come away with a beautiful capture! such drama and striking colors.
Jean Noren replied:
Thanks Christopher. Our bluebirds are very used to people and will even eat our of our hands. He did this because I put mealworms in the rose.
