Description
The yale is a mythical creature of European mythology and one of the symbols of St John's College in Cambridge. They have elephants' tails, antelopes' bodies and goats' heads, with horns that can swivel from back to front.
There are two carved yale statues guarding the gates leading to Kitchen Lane and Third Court at St. John's.
The current statues, carved from Setton stone, were placed in 2015 and 2016 and carved from designs of the originals. This one appears to be radiating out from the greenery behind it due to some camera shenanigans.
