Is is any wonder that this is my favorite fish? Just look at that eye makeup and those stunningly beautiful vibrant stripes. He was not exactly friendly but was definitely curious and let me get fairly close to him. This image was taken in fairly shallow water, less than 30 feet in Grand Cayman. Its a fairly large fish as far as reef fish go.
My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible. Enjoy the photos.
