This is not the view of Portland Oregon that you will find in tourist brochures but may be what you see after a night on the town. Photo taken and manipulated by Jean Noren.
My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible. Enjoy the photos.

Hi Jean, This turned out really well. Perhaps the local wine helped? Cheers Derek
