Description
This is a female wood duck racing through green water on a shallow pond near Olympia Washington. I love these colorful birds. This one was racing toward some treats that had been thrown into the water. The overcast skies made for a great natural soft box and the low angle of the light really brings out the iridescence in the wing feathers. If you can not identify these birds by the colored feathers, you can tell them by the whites of their eyes.
