Artist's Description

A collage of flying bluebirds taken in my yard near Gaston, Oregon. Every spring the bluebirds arrive and compete with the swallows to occupy the best houses. I am not sure what defines best in the mind of a bluebird, but it does seem that one or two houses are always being fought over despite the multitude of other available spaces. This is a sequence of maneuvers done by one of the bluebirds as it tries to occupy his choice of nestbox.

About Jean Noren

Jean Noren

My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible. Enjoy the photos.
