Its hard to imagine that this beautiful little creature is really a worm that has bored into the coral that it sits on. They are quite small, about 1-1.5 inches, and tend to snap their tree-like gills back into their tunnels when you approach to take a photo. You can wait until they come out again, but by then your non-photographer friends have moved on and left you to fend for your self in the ocean.
My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible. Enjoy the photos.
