Description
A cute little chipmunk. Too adorable to be called a rodent. Just sitting on a rock chowing down on some seeds. Image taken near the High Desert Museum in eastern Oregon.
Chipmunks are small, lively, striped rodents of the family Sciuridae. They are the the smallest members of the squirrel
Chipmunks are found all over North America. They tend to scamper through the undergrowth of a variety of environments from alpine forests to shrubby deserts.
Chipmunks have cheek pouches, large, glossy eyes, stripes, and bushy tails an they live in the wild for 2 to 3 years. They are solitary creatures and generally ignore one another except during the spring, when mating takes place.
